Hi, my name is Irma Corona and I am pursuing a doctoral degree in Health Studies at Texas Woman's University. In one way or another we have all been touched by cancer. Many of us have stood by family or friends as they battled the disease and some of us have even lost over loved one's to cancer. I have personally stood by several family members as they fought their cancer diagnosis and lost my father to the disease. Having been touched by cancer on several different fronts and losing my father to the disease has spearheaded my passion on cancer awareness. While some cancers have been linked to genetics others are preventable, one of which is cervical cancer. The key to minimizing a female's chance of being diagnosed with cervical cancer is awareness. In this blog I will detail the prevalence of cervical cancer, discuss preventative measures one can take, signs and symptoms of the disease, and treatment options. Join me in discussing cervical cancer not only to increase your awareness, but also to pass the message on to others. Together we can increase cervical cancer awareness and in doing so we are one step closer to beating the disease before it gets to those we love.
